Welcome to the Isle of Skye

Welcome to 'Tigh Haraidh,' a cosy two bedroom self-catering holiday cottage nestling on the shores of the Sound of Sleat, at the southern tip of the romantic Isle of Skye. Standing in its own grounds just above the sea the cottage was completed in 2006 to an exceptionally high standard and offers all the modern comforts of a home from home. The cottage enjoys wonderful views across to the mainland wildnerness of Knoydart, Loch Hourn and in the distance Loch Nevis and Mallaig. 'Tigh Haraidh' is the Gaelic name for Harry’s House and is open year round, and is the heart of some of the very finest scenery on the west coast of Scotland. The cottage is just ten minutes by road from the famous Mallaig to Armadale ferry, recently voted as one of the top ten ferry journeys in the world. Alternatively we are just 25 minutes from the Skye Bridge, at the Kyle of Lochalsh, gateway to Skye and located on the main trunk roads to the south, and to the east at Inverness.

Whether your stay is a week, two weeks or even longer there is always something to do in Skye and beyond. The area is close to some of the great mountains of Scotland, some wonderful walks to suit all ages and a host of visitor attractions for the whole family. Just a few minutes away is the world-famous Clan Donald Skye, ancient seat of the Clan Donald, amid 40 acres of woodland gardens and home to Armadale Castle, and the modern Museum of the Isles. Skye is fast becoming the very centre of some of the best wildlife watching in Scotland, and numerous companies offer a range of cruises on the water, from fast boat trips seeing dolphins, whales and occasionally otters, to more leisurely boat trips to see seals and eagles. Nearby is the famous Eilean Donan Castle, seat of the Clan Macrae and the most iconic of Scotland’s castles, having starred in countless films from ‘Highlander’ to the blockbuster Bond movies of the present day.

Skye and Lochalsh offer a wonderful range of restaurants, pubs and café’s, using superb local produce including venison, sea-food and smoked meats, as well as some of the best ‘fish and chips’ in Scotland. You can eat out somewhere every day from a Michelin starred restaurant at Kinloch Lodge to the lovely ‘Shed’ on the Pier at Armadale.  But self-catering means that you can eat in, and 'Tigh Haraidh' has all the facilities to ensure you can have great meals at home.
